As I thought about what I wanted my first post to be about, I was overwhelmed with excitement and emotions to really be here! I could not be more anxious to see what is to come.
Last year, I made the decision that I did not want to work for anybody anymore and I wanted to have a career that I was completely passionate about. I’ve always had great jobs in hospitality and in the tech industry but I would often think, “Is this really how I want to spend the rest of my life?” The answer was a simple ”Hell No!” I was fired from Venmo in March of 2019. I had actually been waiting on the moment for awhile lol! I took time to enjoy my kids, with my man and just life period. I’ve worked since I was a senior in high school, I was overdue for a break. At the time, going back to school was just a thought in the back of my head.
Fast forward to September 2019, I was ready to go back to work. What did I want to do? I did say that I didn’t want to work for anybody anymore but I guess I can go back for a little bit. Well, after going on a few interviews, I was hired by Chase Bank. I was excited because I was definitely interested in the financial industry so why not? I received my start date of November 4th in the month of October. It was contingent on a successful background check. I just knew I had that in the bag! I received an email saying that my time I spent working at Grubhub was not showing on my background check report. “Excuse me?” I worked at Grubhub from 2015 to 2017, I was promoted and everything while there and now you say that it’s no history? What a big WTF moment! Anyways, I remembered I had the email of the VP of Grubhub, the CEO’s sister, so I immediately emailed her to see what can be done. She tells me that she is going to email HR to send me my W-2 forms for the years that I was there. Cool! I received the forms and forwarded them right to the company doing the background check.
About a week before my start date, I received an email from Chase. “Unfortunately, we are going to have to take back our offer.” I was pissed! But I DID say that I didn’t want to work for anybody anymore, right? Soooooo now what? I took this as a sign to stop playing and do exactly what I wanted to do. I began really researching beauty schools. I have always love, love, loved everything about skincare, I love science and I love products! Tricoci or Paul Mitchell? I contacted both but something about Tricoci University caught my attention more. I filled out the info and was scheduled to come in for a tour. I wasn't even planning on attending until 2020 but I left that day with a start date of December 10, 2020. I can say that I am so glad that I didn’t wait. Tricoci University, as a whole was great place to receive my Esthetics education. I had the best teacher, Ms. Antonia and I know if I would've went anywhere else, it wouldn't have been the same experience. Completing Esthetics school was one of my greatest accomplishments and further proved to myself that this is my passion! This is what I’m supposed to be doing!
I can’t wait to continue this journey as an Esthetician/Skin Care Specialist and share my knowledge! ⚡️ You can register in the menu above as member of AGlowingEsthetics.com to stay in touch for product launches and service availability!
